Mutual Transport Layer Security (mTLS) adds two-way authentication and encryption using digital certificates.

When mTLS is enabled in the Cryptographic Security Platform Vault for Secrets, you can continue to use all of the original Cryptographic Security Platform Vault for Secrets APIs, the CLI, and the webGUI, but only the APIs located at https://<VAULT_IP_or_FQDN>/vault/mtls/1.0/ will use mTLS. The mTLS APIs function the same as the original APIs, but using mTLS is more secure.
